Leaf Spot
Leaf Spot
Leaf spots are most commonly caused by a variety of fungi invading the leaves of ornamental plants and vegetables. These organisms survive on stem lesions of perennial plants, or dead leaves and twigs fallen on the ground, from where new infections will spread to emerging growth in spring.
The disease causes characteristic brown to black lesions or spots, on the leaves of roses (black spot) and many trees, shrubs and other garden plants. Lesions can merge to form large dead patches on leaves, resulting in premature leaf fall, defoliating the plants.
